Be prepared for changing weather conditions, as you will be hunting in the fall and at high altitudes. Dress appropriately. Layer your clothing to meet cold conditions in the early mornings and to shed as the day warms.
|
Sharpen your shooting skills. Practice taking short, quick shots because you'll be under heavy cover.
|
New Mexico has a law prohibiting "hunter harassment" - or interfering with another person who is lawfully hunting, trapping or fishing in an area where those activities are permitted. (NMSA 1995, Chapter 17-2-7.1)

| Come Prepared: Come prepared to walk long distances at high altitudes. Begin a physical fitness program, which would allow you to walk at least 3 to 5 miles on flat ground without feeling tired or winded. |
Come Prepared: Choose steep terrain and carry a loaded pack. You should also carry equivalent weight of the weapon you will be using in order to better stimulate your system. It's a good advice to consult your physician before beginning any fitness program. | |||
