Mountain biking is often lumped into the extreme sports category. In truth, off-road cycling can be as intense, or easy, as you want it to be. If you know how to pedal, you are qualified.

Bicyclists can enjoy rising through the dunes of White Sands National Monument on Friday and Saturday evenings. Advance registration is required. Bicyclists may enter the park between 9 and 10 pm and be back by midnight.

Be prepared. Ride with a helmet, at least two bottles of water, and the tools to fix a flat tire and a broken chain. Carry a rain jacket. Gloves and padded bike shorts make your ride more comfortable. Make sure your light works for evening and night trips. That's it. Off you go !!
