Smokey Bear Museum in Capitan was built using all volunteer help and funds to house memorabilia and tell Smokey's story.

Adjacent to the museum is the Smokey Bear Historical State Park where Smokey is burried.

Please be welcome to visit us. We will show you around and introduce all of our friendly staff.
The Museum has a terrific and priceless selection of Memorabilia on Smokey.

Over 500 items are on display at the Museum. Some memorabilia are dating back to the early 1940's. Many of the items were donated by local residents and collectors from all over the world.

One particular item we are very proud to have is the Golden Bear - a 1944 vintage stuffed Teddy Bear. This bear has been photographed with President Eisenhower.

On display is the original baby bottle that fed the cub when he was first rescued from the fire in the Capitan Mountains.
